When I heard the horrible news of Lena's death I was shocked but not very surprised. Lena and Pelle visited us a week before. It was 3 years ago I last saw her and you could see she was very very sick. But her spirit was high and we talked a lot. About the cancer, the treatment and the loss of her son in January. We went to the beach and took a walk over the pier. When you walk together it is easier to talk. I asked her if she believed in a God or something, because that would be so comforting, to think that you would meet people you loved but are dead. Then she told me a story Astrid Lindgren wrote about a garden, I think it was called Nangijala, that after you are dead you are going there. A beautiful story.
I dont believe in God, but I hope so much that we will meet eachother again in Nangijala. And then we will continue our talks, our laughs and our discussions, the politics and so on like in the days we worked together at the Bookproject in Washington.
Love Trudy
