Lena - From Josephine:

Lena will be sadly missed she was such a kind, happy, thoughful person who was willing to help those around her and try new things.

In the World Bank Book Project where I worked with her we had a long history of sending large shipments of books to many schools in one country with the shipping costs paid by the World Bank. However not all countries were able to find enough schools to justify a big shipment which took up a whole lare container. So Lena and I devised a scheme where if an individual school wanted books if we could identify someone who would pay the shipment costs we would organise the books. Lena took over responsibility for this and made it a huge success. I cannot count the number of times we took trolley loads of boxes up to the local post office and sent them on their way. We did it so often the post office employees called us the Book Ladies!

The children who are now using the books won't know the source of their education but what a legacy Lena has left in developing countries.

I am just so sad that I will not be able to get together with Lena to talk over all the happy times we spent working together. However I know that in heaven she will be given an extra big harp!
